Neubie's Top Ten Investment Holdings

One of my readers in Western Pennsylvania asked what my top holdings are.  Here is a list of the top holdings that make up the core of my portfolio.  I left out the following types of holdings:

- Positions in my highly speculative futures and currency trading accounts

- Shares or securities of past employers

- Short term instruments like t-bills and money market funds used to park cash

- Positions held again deep in the money options or futures

Ishares US Inflation Protected Securities Exchange Traded Fund (TIP)

Bundesobligation  (EURO) Various Maturities 2007 - 2011: German Government Euro Denominated Bonds

BP Prudhoe Bay Royalty Trust (BPT)

Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A or BRK.B)

Chevron Corp (CVX)

Deutche Telekom Notes (EURO) Due 2011

Microsoft (MSFT)

Siemens Financier Notes (EURO) due 2011

Australia Government Bonds (Aus Dollar) Due 2011

As you might notice these top holdings are heavily skewed toward towards non-dollar holdings.  The bond positions have all been held for more than five years and are unhedged - meaning I'm betting the dollar will decline against other currencies.

The only positions that I regularly trade around are Microsoft and TIP.  I do not like to trade bonds because the transaction costs are so high (unless you are trading amounts in the millions).  Instead, I hold long term positions in both US and non US bonds and use currency and interest rate futures to express my opinions.
