Time's Magazine Properties for Sale

Comment on Jon Fine's Media Blog. He guesses a $300 million price tag for the magazine properties of Time/Warner. I just had to up the anti. Historically, Time Warner has had management that makes bad desicions. I think also that if we knew the breakdown of online revenues versus print revenues we could assign a proper multiple to each peice. I'd put a 30-40 multiple to the online business. I'm sure somone else can make more out of online than Time Inc. And a 12-15 p/e on the print businesseses. You have a breakdown for print revenue versus online revenue for the magazine properties? That will help us zero in on a price. NY Times P/E = 17 (great brands revenue's fighting internet trends)E.W. Scripps p/e = 32Gannet p/e = 11.5Tribune = 30. I can see how he got to a p/e of 15 but there is so much private equity around desparate to find big deals in which to park all that cash. I'll bet the multiple is even higher. And every bidder is going to have some genius way to increse margins to that the earnings number is higher too. I'm betting $400mm+ by the time egos and all are done. ...

A Resonsible Board? Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMY) CEO Leaves With Only A Small Fortune

At last a company doesn't reward a CEO for poor stock performance by giving away a fortune upon his departure. According to Reuters, departing CEO Peter Dolan may get around $10 million upon his departure. Even though it took a federal investigation to get rid of him the board of this company at least behaved responsibly.So I own a small (1/4 position) in BMY. This news story made me want to take another look at my position. I always believe that all partial positions should always be up for an increase or elimination after any news event.
